Naugatuck Public Schools Loses Beloved Custodian
Jim Healy served 18 years as Head Custodian and Crossing Guard at Andrew Avenue Elementary School; I will miss him so very much.

Naugatuck, CT - Superintendent of Schools Sharon Locke shared some very sad news with staff members late Tuesday.
I am writing to you with a heavy heart to share that our dear friend Jim Healy passed away this morning surrounded by his loving family.
Many of you have known and worked with Jim during his 28 years of service to the Naugatuck Public Schools. Initially hired in 1991 as Custodian at City Hill Middle School, Jim held various positions including 18 years as Head Custodian and Crossing Guard at Andrew Avenue Elementary School.

I consider myself lucky to have had the chance to work closely with Jim in his role as AFSCME President. Jim was a warm and caring man who loved Naugatuck and his work, but he loved people and children more. I have heard countless stories of how Jim "adopted students" and took colleagues "under his wing."
Jim's greatest love was his family. A few months ago, Jim shared with me how grateful he was for his wife and children and for the life they shared. He told me how proud he was of his 10 children, especially the education charity they created together. http://www.healyfoundation.org/

We will miss Jim immensely. Our thoughts and prayers will be with his family during this difficult time.

On Wednesday, staff members at Andrew Avenue Elementary School will wear their school t-shirts that have a heart sewn on the sleeve in honor of Mr. Healy as a small tribute to their custodian.
Superintendent Locke later sent the following information about the calling hours.
Calling hours have been scheduled for Jim on Thursday, June 6th from 3:00pm - 7:00pm at Buckmiller's Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave.
