Naugatuck Recycling Center On The Move
The reason for the move is due to interest in the current location of the Recycling Center.

NAUGATUCK, CT — The Planning and Zoning Board voted unanimously to approve the relocation of the Naugatuck Recycling Center to 0 Andrew Ave. on a temporary basis.
Wayne Zirolli, Borough Engineer, said the Borough of Naugatuck is proposing to relocate the Recycling Center temporarily onto the Risdon, 0 Andrew Ave. property while the permanent location on School Street is under construction.
The reason for the move is due to interest in the current location of the Recycling Center. Wayne Zirolli went into detail on the layout and locations of the refuge bins, leaves and brush area, trailer for attendant and possible swap shop.

He also discussed the mulch /salt area for town resident and the availability while blocking off the recycling area when it is not open.
They hope for this to be a short time frame of no more than 2 years before the new recycling
center site will be ready on School Street. He also explained they would have to fill some area in
for the refuge bays; everything is temporary and easily removable.

Wayne Malicki stated how it would be good for queuing cars off Andrew Avenue as to not be blocking the road during the busy times.
Rocky Vitale explained he is part of a committee that is looking at the Transfer station and once it moves to the temporary location they would like to implement expanding the hours (open evening hours), expanding the days (1 more day a week) and opening in winter every other weekend. They would like to implement these changes as soon as they open at the temporary location, the Risdon Property.
