Naugatuck Reschedules 4th Of July Fireworks To July 31: Mayor

The fireworks display was postponed on July 2 due to inclement weather.

NAUGATUCK, CT — Naugatuck has rescheduled its 4th of July to July 31, Mayor Pete Hess announced on Facebook this week.

The fireworks display was originally scheduled for July 2, but the event was postponed due to inclement weather.

When Hess and borough officials announced the postponement, they had initially said the event would be held in early August, but instead they settled on July 31.

Naugatuck is not the only community that was forced to reschedule its fireworks display, which took on added significance as the state and the nation emerges from the coronavirus pandemic and large gatherings are allowed.

Shelton and Derby were forced to postpone their joint event twice due to inclement weather; as of Tuesday, a new date had not been announced.
