Naugatuck School District Ranked 114th Best in Connecticut

Niche.com has ranked school systems across the country and compiled a list of the best school systems in Connecticut.

Niche.com has compiled its list of the top 100 school districts in the United States and five Connecticut schools make the list.

The Edgemont Union Free School District in Greenburgh, NY was voted No. 1 in the nation. Connecticut school districts ranked in the top 100 include: New Canaan, 19, Westport, 30, Darien, 73, Ridgefield, 79, Glastonbury, 87, and Simsbury, 100.

The website ranked the Top 100 districts based on various factors such as the quality of its Academics, Extracurriculars & Activities, Student Culture & Diversity, and Teachers.

According to Niche, it “ranks more than 100,000 public and private schools and districts based on dozens of statistics and 27 million opinions from 300,000 students and parents.”

A separate list was also compiled ranking the top 100 school districts in Connecticut.

Naugatuck is ranked as the 114st best school system in the state. Overall, the district received a C score.

Naugatuck receives a C+ for academics and its teachers receive a C+ grade. Its highest grade is for student culture and diversity earning a B+ grade.

A total of 74 percent of students are considered proficient in reading and mathematics.

Taxpayers spend $16,801 educating each student.
