Naugatuck Served with Lawsuit for Man's Fatal Fall From Apartment Window

The man fell from a window after an alleged altercation broke out at a party.

The lawsuit was served to borough officials on Thursday.

According to the paper, Yolanda Martinez, the mother of Salomon Martinez, 24, of Stratford who died at a party on Jan. 16, 2013 claims the Naugatuck Police Department should have broken up the party where an altercation broke out among Martinez and two other men Matthew Chandler and Kyle Gonzalez, who were both 20 at the time. The Naugatuck Police Department was called to the scene earlier for an alleged altercation.

The suit seeks damages from the borough, the two men Martinez was involved in an altercation with and and the owners of the apartment building at 8 Pond St., who are accused of negligence, the paper reports. Police said there was heavy drinking at the party where the fight broke out.

According to the paper, police say that either Chandler and Gonzalez pushed Martinez out of the window or chased him and he jumped out of the window. The two men have been charged with murder and are waiting for their cases to go through the court system.
