New Fire Marshal Named In Naugatuck

The Naugatuck Fire Dept. is proud to announce the promotion of David Hardt to the rank of Fire Marshal. Fire Marshal Hardt was born in Waterbury, CT. son of Philip and Virginia Hardt, Sr. He is a graduate of Kaynor Technical High School and attended Mattatuck Community College. He worked 20 plus years for the State of Connecticut Department of Corrections and retired in 2010 as a Fire Safety Supervisor for the South District.

David has been in the Fire Service since 1985 on the Watertown Fire Department raising through the ranks to Deputy Fire Chief (1997-2017) Deputy Fire Marshal (2014-2017) Emergency Management Director (2000-2012). He also has served as Deputy Fire Marshal in the Town of Bethlehem (1996-2009) and Morris (1996-2006) and Fire Marshal in Bethlehem (2009-2016) and Morris (2006 – Present).

He has served on several State and local committees including, Waterbury Area Fire Chiefs Association Vice President (1998-1999), President (2000-2001), Wolcott Fire School Committee Chairman (2009-Present), Vice Chairman of the Waterbury Councils of Government Emergency Planning Committee (2002-2012) Litchfield County Fire Marshal Assoc. , Litchfield County Fire Chief’s Assoc. , Connecticut State Firefighter Assoc., Connecticut State Firefighters Assoc. Education Committee, Connecticut Fire Marshal Assoc. , Town of Watertown L.E.P.C (2000- Present)., St Mary Magdalen School Board (2008-2009), and Evergreen Cemetery Association (2014- Present).

David has been with the Naugatuck Fire Department since 2012 as a Fire Dispatcher.
He has received numerous awards from the State of Connecticut Department of Corrections, State of Connecticut Emergency Management Director of the year in 2005, Town of Watertown Outstanding Citizens Award, and Naugatuck Fire Department Unit Citation.

David has been married to wife Roberta for 29 years and they have one son Christopher and they reside in Oakville, CT.
