New Movie Theater To Hold Grand Opening At Waterbury Mall This Week

NAUGATUCK, CT — The long-awaited grand opening of the new Apple Cinemas movie theater at the Brass Mill Center mall in Waterbury is scheduled for Friday.

In an announcement sent to Patch, Brass Mill Center General Manager Stacey Mendyka said the newly renovated 12-screen luxury cinema will will offer customers a state-of-the-art moviegoing experience.

"For us, it's always about the customer experience and creating opportunities for families and friends to spend time together," Mendyka said in a statement. "We understand that families have many options, so we aim to offer more than just shopping for our community, and the cinema provides another great option."

Mendyka emphasized the Apple Cinemas' opening marks a fantastic new addition to the mall and encouraged shoppers to visit the Brass Mill Center website for more information about exclusive events and promotions.

She also highlighted other fun events scheduled to take place at Brass Mill Center later this year, including an expanded food truck and fireworks extravaganza on July 6 and 7.

Apple Cinemas announced plans to open a refurbished 12-screen movie theater at the mall in early March and indicated it could open in April.

Located on the mall's third level, theater hours are currently listed on the mall website as Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.

Apple Cinemas will fill a void at the mall left by theater chain Regal Cinemas, which closed its Brass Mill theater in September 2022, according to CT Insider.

Apple Cinemas is based in Massachusetts and has theater locations in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Rhode Island.

The mall's new theater will mark the second Apple Cinemas location in Waterbury. The other location is at 920 Wolcott Street.

Additional Apple Cinemas locations in Connecticut include Torrington, Hartford and Simsbury. Requests for comment from Apple Cinemas were not returned.
