No, Halloween Isn't Canceled In Naugatuck
Mayor Pete Hess issued a statement hoping to clarify any confusion.
NAUGATUCK, CT — There has been some confusion in Naugatuck about Halloween and its status due to a pending rain and wind storm on Thursday, Oct. 31. Mayor Pete Hess issued a brief statement clarifying the situation and said the town isn't canceling Halloween.
"To avoid any confusion, Halloween is on for Thursday 10/31 on a town wide basis except for the Milville/Quinn St. area where police presence is postponed until Saturday. Any contrary emails from me were supposed to be limited to residents of the Milville Quinn area. Have a Happy and Safe Halloween!"
Police issued a statement on Tuesday essentially stating the obvious. "UPDATE:**We cannot cancel Halloween. Residents can opt to trick or treat, but our road closures and dedicated police presence in Millville area will be shifting to Saturday 11/2, per community concern. Therefore, the purpose of this post is to inform those that planned to trick or treat on Millville aware of the change. This is to ensure everyone enjoys a safe evening out, regardless of which night they choose to trick or treat.**"
