1943 - 2019

Naugatuck, CT - James E. Gallagher, 76, died peacefully on August 13, 2019 at Waterbury Hospital with his loving family by his side.

Jim was born on March 11, 1943 in Waterbury, CT a son of the late Edward and Dorothy (Gray) Gallagher. Jim lived in Naugatuck for the past 13 years, having lived most of his life in Waterbury. Jim worked in retail sales for many years at Kmart and also as a manager at Service Merchandise. Jim was a member of the Eagles Aerie 640 in Naugatuck. Jim was a devoted father, grandfather and brother and an amazing friend to so many people and always put others before himself. He had a witty personality and a sense of humor that always kept you smiling. He will be remembered for his generosity and his selflessness to always care and look out for others.

Jim is survived by his daughters, Susan Gallagher and her husband, Brian Bellemare and Cynthia Morgan and her husband, Craig Morgan; his grandchildren, Summer Rose Gallagher and C.J. Morgan; his brother, Douglas W. Gallagher and his wife, Peggy and several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday at 11:00am at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. Calling hours are Saturday from 9:00-11:00am at the funeral home.
