Obituary: Pasquale “Patsy” S. Paternostro, 82, of Watertown
Patsy joined the Bricklayers & Allied Craft Workers Union and went to work for the Edward H. Coon Company for many years until retirement.

WATERTOWN, CT - Pasquale “Patsy” S. Paternostro, 82, of Watertown, entered into the gates of heaven on Friday, November 13, 2020, at the VITAS Inpatient Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was the loving husband of Joan (Gursky) Paternostro and of the late Katherine (Parker) Paternostro.
Patsy was born in Waterbury on November 27, 1937, son of the late Lupo and Mary (Paternostro) Paternostro. At a young age, Patsy joined the Bricklayers & Allied Craft Workers Union and went to work for the Edward H. Coon Company for many years until his retirement. Patsy’s knack for whistling and singing granted him the nickname of, “the bird”, which he wore proudly. For over twenty-five years, Patsy coached Water-Oak Little League Baseball, as well as Pop Warner football and basketball, and was an avid New York Giants and Yankees fan, UConn Men’s and Women’s Basketball fan and loved horse racing. Being active in his community, Patsy was a founder of the Hill Street Social Club, a member of the Washington Hill Club, member and honoree of the Greater Waterbury Sportsmen’s Club and honoree of the Water-Oak Circle of Sports. Everyone is going to miss Patsy’s delicious cooking, especially his famous Sunday morning breakfasts, his soffritto and annual clambake.

Besides his wife Joan of Florida, Patsy leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, Patrick J. Paternostro of Watertown, Linda Paternostro of Waterbury, Sandra Barnosky and her husband Brian of Watertown, a sister, Connie D’Angelo and her husband Anthony of Prospect, a sister-in-law, Susan Dillane of Terryville, and his step-children, John Valente and his wife Susan of Stratford, Jeff Valente and his wife Vicki of Bethlehem, David Valente and his wife Teresa of Watertown, Carrie Coursin and her husband Mark of FL. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Jason, Daniela and Matthew Paternostro, Brandon and Ryan Barnosky, Krista, Kaitlyn, Marisa, Monica, Mitch, and Sage Valente, Shana Gorondy and her husband Alex, Jessica Davis and her husband Tommy, two great grandchildren, Parker and Logan, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Angela Farrell and her husband Henry.
Patsy’s family would like to thank Dr. Hector Pun for his years of care, Billy and the staff at Bunker Hill Pharmacy, as well as the staff at Waterbury Hospital ICU and the VITAS Inpatient Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital for all of the great care and service that they showed to Patsy.

Arrangements: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 16, 2020, 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church in Watertown. Everyone is kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Watertown. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial, the Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury.
