Woman, 86, Dies In Apartment Fire: Naugatuck Police

A person was trapped in their apartment and had to be removed when a fire broke out early Tuesday morning, fire officials said.

NAUGATUCK, CT — Police said a woman has died in a fire at the Oak Terrace housing complex, 53 Conrad Street, early Tuesday.

At 2:30 a.m., emergency crews responded to Oak Terrace for a fire alarm. The alarm was found to be coming from one of the units.

Inside the apartment, firefighters located and removed an 86-year-old female victim who was suffering from serious burn injuries, police said. Naugatuck Fire Department continued working to extinguish the fire.

The woman was taken to Bridgeport Hospital and several hours later died of her injuries from the fire, police said. The investigation into the origin and cause of the fire is ongoing. The Office of the State Fire Marshal is assisting with the investigation.

Original post: NAUGATUCK, CT — A person suffered burn injuries in a fire at a Naugatuck apartment early Tuesday morning, according to fire officials.

Firefighters responded to a fire alarm at Oak Terrace at 53 Conrad St. at 2:40 a.m.

A police officer arrived first and reported smoke coming from one of the apartments with a person unable to get out.

Firefighters removed the person from the apartment and quickly extinguished the fire.

The person was transported to Waterbury Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

The fire marshal is investigating. No other residents were displaced.
