Police Investigating Fatal Waterbury Home Shooting Involving Off-Duty Officer; ID Released: UPDATE

Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Wednesday morning in Waterbury.

UPDATE: The police officer has been identified in a release from State Police as 10-year veteran Waterbury Police officer Hallock Yocher. The second ID has not yet been released.

WATERBURY, CT — Police are investigating a fatal Wednesday morning shooting at a local residence.

Suspected shots fired at the Marion Avenue house were reported close to 5 a.m., according to a release. Waterbury Police found two unresponsive adults upon arrival, who were later pronounced dead.

The incident is considered isolated, with no immediate threat to the public visible. State police have taken the lead on the investigation and hope to have more information later in the day.

Police have identified an off-duty Waterbury police officer to be one of the deceased.
