‘Possible Bomb Threat’ Prompts Evacuation At Waterbury Schools: Police

An investigation is ongoing, according to police.

WATERBURY, CT — The North End Middle School and Wilby High School were evacuated temporarily Tuesday following what police described as a “possible bomb threat.”

Sgt. Joseph Morais said police were notified of the potential threat around 11 a.m. this morning.

Police at noon said both staff and students were safely evacuated, and the facilities were “fully locked down and secured.”

At 2 p.m., police announced they did not find any signs of suspicious activity following their sweep of the schools, and the facilities were fully reopened, with students and staff returning to class.

“The area is deemed to be safe and there are no threats towards the public,” police said.

According to Morais, it is still an active investigation.
