Transportation Public Hearing:
Rail Infrastructure Improvements

On Monday, February 24th, the Transportation Committee will be holding a public hearing on Raised Senate Bill (SB) 155, An Act Concerning Rail Infrastructure Improvements. During the hearing, I plan to testify in support of a concept developed by the Waterbury Rail Line (WRL) Caucus, which proposes various enhancements to rail infrastructure and service in our region. As residents of our community, I encourage you to testify in person or submit testimony online (instructions below).

Transportation Committee Public Hearing on Rail Infrastructure Improvements
Legislative Office Building (LOB), room 1E, 300 Capitol Avenue, Hartford
Monday, February 24th, 2020 beginning at 11:00 a.m.

If our proposal becomes law, it would be the first step towards modernizing public transportation in Naugatuck Valley, which will have widespread economic benefits. In addition to providing commuters with better options during the week, this plan has the added benefit of alleviating some congestion on our highways, lessening wear and tear on public roads, and reducing our local and state maintenance costs.

The WRL Caucus will be holding a press conference in the LOB, room 1B at 10:00 a.m. ahead of the hearing. We will be discussing our proposal and why it should be included in the final bill to be voted on by the Transportation Committee.
