Second Naugatuck Teen, 17, Claims Man Tried to Give Her a Ride: Police

Naugatuck police say the same man was charged last week for allegedly stalking a 14-year-old teen and hitting an 18-year-old with his car.

Last week, Naugatuck police announced that Brendan Burns, 27, of 2 Fawn Hollow Drive in Seymour, was charged after he allegedly stalked a 14-year-old Naugatuck teen, fled, and then hit an 18-year-old with his car.

Now police say another Naugatuck female teen, 17, has come forward to say Burns allegedly repeatedly tried to get her into his car last week, and police charged him in that incident.

The most recent arrest occurred after another female victim advised police that she saw Burns’ picture in the news, and recognized him as the same subject that approached her and tried to pick her up on the same date, Tuesday May 5 .

The victim advised that Burns stopped and asked her several times if she wanted a ride. The victim stated that she advised Burns “no” each time, and that she continued walking, and that the eventually drove off, police said.

Naugatuck police investigated the complaint and found similarities that linked this incident to the initial incident in which Burns was arrested on May 5.

Naugatuck police submitted an arrest warrant for Burns that was signed and he was picked up and arrested. Burns was charged with breach of peace and was released on bond.

Burns was initially arrested by police on May 5 after he allegedly approached a 14-year-old female at about 4:20 p.m. and repeatedly followed her in his vehicle and tried to pick her up.

In that incident the female ran from the subject and notified friends playing in a park nearby of the incident, police said.

The friends then approached Burns who was seated in his vehicle nearby, and became involved in a confrontation with them, police said.

Burns fled the area and in doing so struck one of the subjects that confronted him with his vehicle, police said. Burns then struck a vehicle on Meadow Street and fled that accident, police said. He was located a short time later near his residence in Seymour by the Seymour PD and taken into custody.
