Background:

In December, Naugatuck Animal Control said Lucky came to them after being severely abused, local officials say.

"Lucky here has had a tough 10 years and is need of our help! Lucky was abused and needs surgery for tumors in her belly and a hole in the roof of her mouth. Our Naugatuck Animal Control has been working diligently to get Lucky the medical care she has needed for so long."
