Sexual Assault Reported In Ambulance, Arrest Made: Naugatuck PD

The victim, a public safety employee, was trying to render care to the accused when the assault occurred, police said in a news release.

NAUGATUCK, CT β€” A Naugatuck man, Richard Regan Jr., 65, of Rubber Avenue, is facing several charges after being accused of sexually assaulting a woman inside an ambulance last month, Naugatuck Police said in a news release.

On Dec. 7, an adult female victim told police that "she had been sexually assaulted while in an ambulance with the accused," police said.

"Through a subsequent investigation conducted by Naugatuck Police it was learned that the victim was grabbed forcefully and inappropriately by the accused while she was trying to render care multiple times. The accused also broke through restraints and was laughing while he tried to attack the victim," Naugatuck Police said in a report.

Regan is charged with criminal attempt to assault a public safety employee, fourth-degree sexual assault, and second-degree breach of peace. He was held in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
