.Los Angeles comes to Naugatuck!
Brian Antonucci, a graduate of the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA, brings his expertise as a musician and his skills as an audio engineer to a brand new and yet totally classic professional recording studio in Naugatuck, CT called THE SHOP SOUND.
Complete with a drum kit and tube amps; hand-wired, ultra-premium cables and connectors; and a 70s Retro look and feel, the “Live Room” feeds directly into a modern control room where critical listening and technical fine-tuning and mastering round off the artists’ experience.
The Shop Sound is all about capturing the magic and nuance of the “live performance” with clarity and a hard-won technical proficiency. “Newch,” as his fellow musicians often call Antonucci, believes his job is mostly to, “mic the source, set your levels, and get the hell out of the way and let the band do its thing.” He offers suggestions only when necessary, guiding and instructing each band or artist towards their own individual and specific artistic sweet spot.
“Everyone’s unique, you know? And their ideas aren’t always totally fleshed out when they come in,” explains Antonucci. “But,” he continues, “that’s why I think of myself as more of a collaborator, rather than just an engineer. And I rely on good communication to really understand each project’s goals and expectations, so when I push ‘record’ they’re free to just jam, and really enjoy the process, you know?”
The Shop Sound also offers guitar lessons, taught personally by Antonucci, as well as well as rehearsal space for any bands looking to keep on friendly terms with their neighbors. “We really want to be the new home base for musicians in Connecticut and beyond,” beams Antonucci. For recording quotes, lesson prices, rental availability or any other inquiries, just call.
