St. Vincent Ferrer Food Drive a Blessed Success
Congrats to all who organized and made the Food Drive happen and thanks to those who brought nonperishables the church on Sunday.

Naugatuck, CT —St. Vincent Ferrer Roman Catholic Church on New Haven Road held a drive-up food drive on Sunday morning. The safe food collection was held in celebration of Good Shepherd Sunday, the fourth Sunday of the Easter season.
People who came to donate food safely drove up in their vehicles to a drop-off donation point located in the church parking lot, where they were able to remain in their cars. Volunteers wore masks and gloves and practiced social-distancing as best they could as they collected the nonperishables.
WTNH reported that Father Binny Issac of St. Vincent Ferrer said, “This is a way that parishioners come together in order to reach out to the people who are in need.”

Tom Festa, the church’s Facilities Manager, was the man behind the food drive. Mr. Festa came up the idea went he saw the the Ecumenical Food Bank in Naugatuck was running low on food.
As was noted in the weekly church bulletin, the first weekend in May is normally St. Vincent Ferrer's Food Pantry Sunday. "Please come to the aid of those in need as Jesus taught us: 'Feed the Hungry,'" the notice concluded.

Joan Loundes was one of the generous donors on Sunday and reached out to Naugatuck Patch about her experience.
In your Naugatuck Patch, I read about the food drive today at St. Vincent Ferrer Church in Naugatuck, from 9-12. I got there a little past 9 to make a donation, and they already had boxes and boxes of food! It looked like it was going to be a great success, so I just thought I would let you know. It did my heart good! Thanks for publicizing this great event.
The food drive utilized the same traffic pattern that they has employed in order to collect blest palms on Palm Sunday.
Organizers say that they collected hundreds of bags of food Sunday, and that the food has been taken to the local food bank to be distributed. The Ecumenical Food Bank is located a 75 Spring Street in Naugatuck.
