Undercover Naugatuck Officer Shot In Waterbury: Report

A Naugatuck police officer was shot during an undercover operation in Waterbury, according to police.

WATERBURY, CT β€” A Naugatuck police officer was shot Wednesday night during an undercover operation in Waterbury, according to media reports.

NBC Connecticut reports a car being used by officers assigned to the Connecticut State Police Violent Crimes Task Force to conduct undercover surveillance was shot at near the entrance ramp to Interstate 84 East on Chase Parkway around 10 p.m.

News 8 reports two officers were in the undercover police vehicle at the time. The driver suffered a grazed gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital for treatment, police said.

Police said the officer sustained minor injuries and has since been released from Waterbury Hospital, according to NBC Connecticut. State and federal police are investigating the incident.
