Waterbury Man Sought In Hotel Scam: Police

The suspect caused hotels to lose thousands of dollars, according to police.

WATERBURY, CT — Police are searching for a 53-year-old Waterbury man suspected of perpetrating a scam which bilked area hotels out of thousands of dollars.

Eddie Kennedy is currently wanted for first-degree larceny and criminal impersonation, according to Waterbury police Sgt. Joseph Morais.

“Kennedy frequents hotels where he poses as a business owner and secures large numbers of rooms for extended stays, leaving hotels with significant financial loss,” police said, in an announcement Wednesday.

Police said Kennedy has been connected to similar incidents in Waterbury, Southington and Southbury.

He was most recently spotted at the Wyndham Hotel in Southbury on March 5, according to police.

There are warrants for Kennedy’s arrest out of Waterbury and Southington. In the Waterbury case, police said he is accused of defrauding the Waterbury Marriott out of approximately $111,000.
