World War I Memorial in Naugatuck Vandalized

Donations are being accepted to repair the damage.

Naugatuck officials and veterans are shocked and angered by recent vandalism done to the borough’s World War I memorial, which is located next to Salem Elementary School, the Republican-American reports.

The memorial pays tribute to the 30 local men who fought and died during the war. A tar-like substance has been found on part of the memorial and another substance is obscuring one of the names.

Some small stones have been removed as well, which left a hole, the Rep-Am reports.
