18-Year-Old Stamford Driver in Four-Vehicle New Canaan Crash Now out of Hospital

The driver, who was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital after the crash six weeks ago, has finally been released.

The 18-year-old driver of one of four cars involved in an Oct. 30 New Canaan accident on Silvermine Road has been released from Yale-New Haven hospital and is getting rehabilitation therapy more than six weeks after the crash, according to New Canaan police.

“His condition has improved as he continues to recover from his injuries,” a New Canaan police spokeswoman said in an announcement. Other drivers in the two SUVs and two cars involved in the 5:34 p.m. accident were treated and released from Norwalk Hospital with less severe injuries, according to police.

The young Stamford man had serious injuries, police have said. No one has been issued tickets or more serious charges in connection with the incident.

Police have given a vague description of the accident with few details:

Two vehicles were traveling east and two west on Silvermine Road near its intersection with Clapboard Hill Road when one of the vehicles veered into the opposite lane.

All four drivers were initially taken to Norwalk Hospital.

There were no passengers in any of the vehicles. The driver of one of the vehicles was ejected, and at least one other driver had to be extricated from the wreckage of a vehicle.
