Two of the occupants in the vehicle — the driver, Jeffrey Nunez, 36, of Orchard Street, and Luis Daniel Leon Blandin, 19, of Shelton Street — were arrested in connection with the theft. A third person, Guyneisha McGee, 25, of Port Chester, New York, was issued a misdemeanor summons on a charge of possession of marijuana.
"Currently, the New Canaan police have six open cases for theft of mail from residential mailboxes, some resulting in check washing," authorities said. "Those investigations are still active, and it is not known at this time if these arrests are related to the previous thefts of mail/checks."

Check washing involves someone erasing information from a check, forging new information on it and then fraudulently cashing it.
Both Nunez and Blandin were charged with fifth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit fifth-degree larceny. Additionally, Blandin was charged with interfering with police after he initially gave authorities a false name.
Nunez was released after a $300 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 26. Blandin was held in lieu of bail of $5,000 and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
