St. Luke's Graham Mink Representing USA at Worlds Rowing Championships

St. Luke’s School Senior Graham Mink will be among the 42 Junior athletes representing the United States in the upcoming 2012 World Rowing Senior and Junior Championships.  The racing competition runs August 15 to 19, 2012 in Plodiv, Bulgaria where Graham will be the only American Junior rowing in the single 1x category.

Graham’s recent journey to the Worlds began in a quad where his boat won US Nationals in Tennessee beating out 24 teams from across the country.  At trials in New Jersey, Graham moved from the quad event to singles at the last moment, competing in the single 1x tryouts.  To secure his spot on the US Junior National Team, Graham took first place in the first two of the three-race qualifier, beating his competition handily.

Graham rows with Maritime Rowing Club in Norwalk, Connecticut, also home to the St. Luke’s Rowing club team.  He is coached by Yan Vengerovskiy, who was recently named coach of the year by US Rowing for 2011, and by Nate Kelly, a 2006 St. Luke’s alumnus.
