NEW CANAAN, CT — The seventh annual New Canaan Chamber of Commerce Holiday Stroll will return in December following the cancelation of last year's event due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

According to the chamber's website, the holiday stroll will take place Dec. 3 from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Elm Street, during which the chamber and local businesses will welcome residents and visitors to the downtown area. Elm Street will be closed to vehicles for the evening.

Laura Budd, the chamber's executive director, said she was excited following the one-year hiatus caused by the coronavirus crisis.

"Overall, we are thrilled to be planning the holiday stroll again," Budd said in an email to Patch. "It is an important New Canaan tradition and an excellent way to show off all that out town has to offer."

During the event, stores and restaurants will be open with treats and great deals for those ready to kick off their holiday shopping. A holiday-themed production featuring local singers and dancers and an appearance from Santa and his crew will take place at the South Elm Intersection starting at 5:30 p.m.

Attendees can also enjoy New Canaan under the lights, have a s'more or a fresh waffle and check out all the shops.

On Dec. 4, Santa will be back in front of the Houlihan Lawrence building on Elm Street from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. so young children can share their holiday wish list with him and take photos.
