Army Veteran Joins New Canaan Police Department
Owen Ochs, 27, served in the U.S. Army for more than nine years and received several awards and commendations.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Army veteran Owen Ochs, 27, is the newest hire for the New Canaan Police Department.
Ochs will tentatively graduate from the Connecticut Police Academy in September. He served in the U.S. Army as an active member for more than nine years and attained the rank of staff sergeant.
He was deployed in both Iraq and Afghanistan and later served as a recruiter. Ochs earned several medals and commendations.

Currently he is working toward a bachelors degree in political science from the University of Connecticut.
He will have to undergo a minimum of 400 hours of field training before becoming a probationary police officer.
