From Banking To Law Enforcement: New Canaan Police Hire New Officer
The new officer, who also serves as a staff sergeant with the Connecticut Air National Guard, was sworn in during a recent ceremony.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Rodger Hamilton, a 41-year-old Norwalk resident, was sworn in as a New Canaan police officer during a ceremony held Thursday morning Town Hall.
In a news release, Police Chief Leon Krolikowski said Hamilton was most recently employed by JP Morgan Chase as a relationship banker. He also serves as a staff sergeant with the Connecticut Air National Guard, currently assigned to the Security Forces Squadron.
Hamilton participated in the department's winter 2022 recruitment process. He was one of over 30 candidates who submitted eligible applications for employment.

According to Krolikowski, Hamilton successfully endured an intensive testing and selection process that included a written examination, physical agility testing, an interview panel, polygraph, psychological evaluation, background investigation, medical testing and and interview with the town's police commission.
Following his swearing in Thursday, Hamilton will begin his recruit training July 25 at the Bridgeport Police Academy. The class will last approximately 25 weeks and conclude in January.

Hamilton will then undergo a minimum of 400 hours of field training with the department before being certified as a probationary police officer, Krolikowski said.
Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Hamilton graduated from Jamaica College High School and earned his bachelor of arts degree from the University of West Indies. He went on to earn his MBA in business administration from the University of Connecticut's School of Business.
Hamilton is married and has two children.
