Bridgeport, CT (August 8, 2016) – Bankwell is the official sponsor of the 19th Annual Habitat 5K Run for Home & WorkBoot Challenge that will take place on Saturday, October 8th at Seaside Park in Bridgeport starting at 9:00 a.m. The Challenge has been one of Habitat Coastal Fairfield County’s (Habitat CFC) main events over the years and was begun by Habitat CFC Co-Founder John Olson 19 years ago.

The event will include a 5K run, a new workboot challenge, kids’ relay and post race activities overlooking the Long Island Sound. The fast and flat USATF certified course makes 5K run the perfect opportunity for serious runners to set qualifying personal records and the WorkBoot Challenge is intended to bring out enthusiasts of all kinds, from walkers to runners, all looking to help Habitat fulfill its mission of helping Fairfield county families in need obtain affordable, decent homes. The proceeds from the event will go to helping a Habitat future homeowner and their family realize their dream of owning their own home!

Bankwell’s Chief Lending Officer Heidi DeWyngaert notes, “At Bankwell, an important part of our mission is to give back to the communities we serve. As an organization that is also committed to help provide the development of safe, affordable housing for everyone in our community, we are pleased to sponsor and participate in this important Habitat initiative.”
