New Canaan Flag Day Celebration Details Announced
The town's Flag Day event will officially kick off New Canaan's celebration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.
NEW CANAAN, CT — New Canaan will kick off its celebration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States with a Flag Day celebration scheduled for next month.
The Flag Day ceremony will take place June 14 at 3 p.m. at New Canaan Town Hall, according to a news release provided by the town.
A new Betsy Ross flag donated by the New Canaan Board of Realtors will be raised during the event, according to the town.

According to the release, the Betsy Ross Flag "is one of the most recognizable early symbols of the United States" and is
traditionally associated with the first American flag made during the Revolutionary War era.

"New Canaan's Betsy Ross Flag is especially symbolic because it connects our community to the nation's founding era and the ideals of unity, independence and civic participation that emerged during the American Revolution," the release reads.
