Budget Request Reduced for New Canaan BOE

The budget still has two rounds of votes before final approval.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Board of Education members feared that a $1 million reduction in the school system's proposed operating budget would adversely affect students.

The Board of Finance is scheduled to finalize its budget vote on March 9 and the budget would then go to the Town Council for final approval, according to the New Canaan Advertiser.

The Board of Education requested a $2.4 million increase in its budget from the current year with about $1.55 million coming from contractual salary increases.
