Burglary While Family Slept in New Canaan: Police

A family reported a burglary occured in the overnight hours on July 4 as they slept.

The incident occurred on Maple Street, police said. The thief or thieves made their way through an unlocked door and into the kitchen.

Two iPhones worth $500 each and two laptops worth $1,000 each were stolen as the family slept.

An air-conditioning unit may have masked the entry noise.

Police are gathering serial numbers of stolen items and continue to investigate.
