Collie Bites Woman's Hand, Owner Fined
The incident occurred on Sunday, Jan. 27, according to police.
A 49-year-old New Canaan woman is facing a $92 fine after her dog got out on Sunday and bit a neighbor’s hand, police say.
A canine named Thunder, belonging to Mary Parker, of Hoyt Street, off the property, traveled about 50 feet and got into a scuffle with a leashed dog and its owner, according to Mary Ann Kleinschmitt, head of the New Canaan Police Department animal control unit.

Parker was cited for allowing a dog to roam and must pay the fine or plead by Feb. 15, Kleinschmitt said.
Thunder’s breed is Rough Collie, she said.

Described by the American Kennel Club as a “devoted family dog,” Rough Collies are also known as “Long-Haired Collies,” the most famous example of the breed being Lassie.
