Decision Reached On New Canaan's Offer To Buy Historic Home
The town made a formal offer for the Valley Road home last month.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Norwalk's First Taxing District has rejected the offer of $250,000 that New Canaan made last month to purchase the historic home at 1124 Valley Road, writes the New Canaan News.
The district, which owns the home and adjacent reservoir, had asked for $900,000 for the home, and will now install a caretaker to maintain the 200-plus-year-old property. New Canaan wants to purchase the home on behalf of preservationists who want to restore it.
Whether negotiations over the home have reached a final decision is unknown, as both sides consider their next steps.
