Defective Headlight Leads To DUI Arrest: New Canaan Police
The incident occurred early Tuesday morning, Oct. 10.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A 29-year-old Stamford man was arrested early Tuesday on a charge of driving under the influence after New Canaan police pulled him over because one of the headlights on his vehicle was defective, according to authorities.
Matthew R. Epple, of Cove Road, was additionally charged with improper number of headlights and failure to carry registration or insurance card, in connection with the 1:30 a.m. incident on New Norwalk Road.
"A [motor vehicle stop] was conducted and upon speaking to Epple (the operator) the officer detected the odor of alcohol emitting from his breath," wrote New Canaan police in a statement.

He subsequently failed Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and was taken to police headquarters. While there, his blood alcohol content was measured at .15, according to police.
Epple was released after posting a $250 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Oct. 26.
