The New Canaan 7th grade girls travel basketball team coached by Jana Jagodzinski is energized and certainly fun to watch. They come to every game focused and prepared. With KK Marcus and Olivia Cosco leading the charge the team has been improving. The addition of Catherin Schuh has meant a stronger play in the middle.
Katelyn Sparks, Kendall Patten and Emily Shirazi have been playing hard moving the ball well and working hard on defense. The defense has been strong and with Ryann Mushkin, VeNae Rosdahl, Sadie Seelert and Lauren Sampson the defense is keeping this team in games.

Unfortunately, with all the great play and improvements it was not enough to overcome a strong Westport team on Friday night, 1/24 and a very tough Stamford team, The Stamford Young Timers, on Saturday St. Lukes 1/25. The team is improving and in both games fought hard but the ball just didn't drop with unfriendly rims. The girls play hard to the last whistle. The team chemistry is great and positive!

The Friday night game was tough as the Westport team sprinted to a quick lead that New Canaan just couldn't overcome even with great play from KK Marcus, Katelyn Sparks and Kendall Patten. The game ended in a 27-44 loss. The team rebounded against a tough Stamford team, the Young Timers, and we had the lead with great shooting from Olivia Cocso. The game in the second half got away from the girls and the defense, at the end, just couldn't stop the taller Stamford back court. The game ended in a disappointing 17-28 loss.
