Last Month was Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Domestic Violence Awareness Month is scattered around many communities to support people who were victims or survived domestic violence. The display of the Purple Ribbon is the symbol of this movement. Across the United States many victims, officials, and families use this symbol to honor and to inform other of the dangers of domestic violence. Our group the Youth Adult Partnership Board, tried to spread the message and raise awareness that violence like this is not acceptable and holds no place in our homes, workplace, and schools in our community. In order to raise the awareness and spread the powerful message we hosted "Purple Fridays". These Purple Fridays were hosted all throughout October at the New Canaan High School during lunch, to inform the students about domestic violence and to pledge to love others and to most importantly love themselves. We also gave out informational pamphlets on domestic violence and spreading the word with purple wristbands. During the Month of October and even today you can still see purple wristbands being worn to support domestic violence. We ended Purple Fridays with a Pledge Poster, where our students signed a pledge to promise to never participate in domestic violence and to never be afraid to report or ask for help.
