DUI Arrest Following 2-Vehicle New Canaan Crash: Cops

The crash occurred Monday night near Jelliff Mill Road.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A 58-year-old Stamford man was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and following too close Monday night after his involvement in a two-vehicle crash near Jelliff Mill Road, according to New Canaan police. No injuries were reported in the 9:12 p.m. crash.

Upon arrival at the scene, an officer spoke to both drivers and detected that one of them, Douglas Alderman, of Camelot Court, allegedly showed "signs of impairment."

Alderman allegedly failed Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and was taken into custody.

At New Canaan Police Headquarters, Alderman allegedly refused to submit to a Blood Alcohol Content test and was held in lieu of bail of $250. He was scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on June 19.
