Emergency New Canaan Radio Froze During Cold Weather
The system went down for five minutes and capacity was diminished for 24 hours after very cold weather knocked out the main system.

NEW CANAAN, CT- Emergency communication between police and dispatchers went down for about five minutes during the very cold day on Feb. 12.
Temperatures of about zero degrees along with the failure of space heaters caused the main system to stop working, according to the New Canaan Advertiser. The back-up system kicked in after five minutes.
The department had diminished radio capacity for about 24 hours because the back-up system isn't as strong and is positioned differently than the main system.
