In sports, there are numerous highly competitive rivalries. We all know about the Yankees vs. the Red Sox or Nicklaus vs. Palmer, with many others that could be included on such a bloodthirsty list. And now, on June 20, 2012 a new, highly competitive rivalry will have its inauguration. The Senior Men’s Club of New Canaan will do” battle” against the Darien Senior Men’s Association on the golf links of the Silvermine Golf Club.
The towns of New Canaan and Darien have a long history of competition. Players participating in sports such as baseball, soccer, football, and lacrosse, begin at an early age and continue all through high school. The teams at every age level, from the respective towns, have done battle on the ball fields with extreme intensity. These inter-town games create lifetime memories of joy or sorrow, depending on the outcomes.
