Facelift Planned For Colonnade At New Canaan's Mead Park: Report

It's been over a decade since work was last done to the structure.

NEW CANAAN, CT — The historic colonnade at Mead Park in New Canaan is slated to receive its first repairs in more than decade, reports the New Canaan News.

The structure once surrounded a wading pool and then a garden, and bathhouses graced both sides of it until those were torn down in the 1970s because they had become dilapidated eyesores, writes the publication. Tennis courts were renovated and re-built at the park a few years ago.

Nearly 15 years ago was the last time the colonnade was worked on (it received a paint job), but last week the Board of Selectmen approved about $12,000 for the marble columns to be polished and resealed, and for the wood trim will be repaired and painted.
