Family Centers Promotes Erin Tishman Manager of Clinical Services

Tishman, a Norwalk resident, is now manager of clinical services for Darien and New Canaan.

An announcement from Family Centers:

Family Centers recently announced the appointment of Erin Tishman, LPC to Manager of Clinical Services for Darien and New Canaan.

In her new role, Tishman will oversee all counseling and clinical programs serving the Darien and New Canaan communities. She will also supervise the day-to-day operation of the Center for HOPE and The Den for Grieving Kids, Family Centers’ programs offering bereavement and critical illness support to adults, children and families.

In addition to her managerial duties, Tishman will continue to see clients out of Family Centers’ 590 Post Rd. office in Darien.

Tishman joined Family Centers in 2012 as a contract clinician. In 2013, she was hired full-time as a Clinical Supervisor.

Before joining Family Centers, Tishman was a clinician for the Adolescent Program at Kids in Crisis in Greenwich. Working with the Department of Children and Families, Juvenile Probation, treatment providers, schools and other community resources, she helped adolescents cope with a various emotional and behavioral issues and diagnoses.

Tishman has also worked as a clinician providing individual, family and group therapy to children, adolescents and young adults living in residential treatment facilities in Vermont, New Jersey and Philadelphia.

Tishman earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology from St. Michael’s College. She also holds a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Rosemont College. Tishman is specially trained in the treatment of trauma, including Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, as well as in anxiety, depression, marriage and family and group therapy. Tishman is a native of Fairfield, and now lives in Norwalk.

Family Centers is a private, nonprofit organization offering education and human services to children, adults and families in Fairfield County. More than 3,000 professionals and trained volunteers work together to provide a wide range of responsive, innovative programs.

A United Way, Community Fund of Darien and New Canaan Community Foundation partner agency, Family Centers is a member of the Connecticut Council of Family Service Agencies and the Alliance for Children and Families and is accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
