Former Daycare Owner Sentenced In Death Of New Canaan Child
Nydia Carrillo-Maldonado pleaded guilty to a manslaughter charge in connection with the death of New Canaan infant Bella Redondo.

STAMFORD, CT — A former Stamford daycare owner, who pleaded guilty last year in connection with the 2016 death of New Canaan infant Bella Redondo, was sentenced in court Wednesday to three-and-a-half years in prison, writes News 12 Connecticut.
Nydia Carrillo-Maldonado pleaded guilty in December to first-degree manslaughter and first-degree risk of injury to a minor in connection with the July 2016 death. In court Wednesday, Carrillo-Maldonado reportedly showed no contrition, and she did not apologize to Bella's family, according to News 12.
According to authorities, Bella Redondo reportedly was having difficulty breathing when Carrillo-Maldonado called 911, but the child died hours later at Stamford Hospital. The case was ruled a homicide because medical examiners discovered Bella had suffered blunt-force trauma to the head.
