NEW CANAAN, CT — In legal papers filed in Hartford this week, Fotis Dulos, the estranged husband of missing New Canaan mother-of-five Jennifer Farber Dulos, is seeking more than $1 million from the mother-in-law who is suing him for millions.

Attorneys for Gloria Farber and Fotis Dulos have been sparring in court in the months since Jennifer Dulos' May 24 disappearance. And following the recent trial over the $2.5 million that Farber says he owes her and her late husband's estate, Fotis Dulos' legal team is claiming that's wrong, Farber and the estate owe him, in part because there was a free-flow of money between him and the Farbers.

Fotis Dulos claims there were no promissory notes to prove funds the Farbers gave him and his luxury home building business were loans, but he also paid the Farbers money when there were excess funds, writes the New Canaan Advertiser.

"As funds were needed to keep Fore Group growing, Farber advanced those funds," Fotis Dulos' attorneys argue about his business. "In line with that conversation in late 2010, thereafter, there were no promissory notes, and Farber made the advances with no expectation of repayment. When funds were not utilized for construction projects, Fore Group transferred excess funds to Farber. Money flowed both ways..."

The response by attorneys for Farber had not yet appeared online on Friday.

Fotis and Jennifer Dulos were the midst of a contentious divorce and child custody fight when she vanished on May 24, and Fotis and his ex-girlfriend, Michelle Troconis, have been charged in connection with the disappearance.

The two are accused of discarding bloody items in the Hartford area — which have tested positive for Jennifer Dulos' blood — and trying to cover it up.

Both are due back in Stamford Superior Court next month on the criminal charges.
