Frankenstein Comes to Life at St. Luke's

Despite the frightening weather outside, the Fireplace Commons was warm and convivial inside! A full house gathered for the second annual Parents' Association Book Chat to discuss Mary Shelley's classic Victorian novel, Frankenstein.
A dinner of period fare and the 1931 Boris Karloff film set the stage for dramatic presentations by English teacher, Susan Doran and History teacher, Hunter Martin.  Their interpretations provided the background for understanding the fascinating  story of Mary Shelley's life and the era in which she wrote the book.  The parents were then involved in a lively book discussion.  Swiss chocolate fondue provided the perfect sweet ending to the evening.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate the rich, collaborative education our children experience," said PA member Barb Clayton. "Based on the people's reaction to the Book Chat, this event is on its way to becoming a cherished St. Luke's tradition."
