GoFundMe Effort Launched By New Canaan Employees For Co-Worker
Nick Colabella's home in Monroe was heavily damaged by a fire this month.

NEW CANAAN, CT — On the day of his grandmother's funeral, July 12 of this year, Monroe resident Nick Colabella, a New Canaan town employee, tried to start his car but started a fire in his garage which spread quickly into the house.
"Nick tried to extinguish the fire but could not and called upon the Monroe Fire Department to assist," wrote Mose Saccary on a GoFundMe page he and New Canaan co-workers started to help the Colabellas. "Nick lived in this house with his wife, two daughters and mother. His co-workers are starting a Go Fund Me Page to help out with some essentials as Nick lost everything in the fire, ie., clothing, toys for the children, and every day essentials."
As of Monday, the effort has raised $8,120 toward a goal of $10,000. "When such a tragedy strikes one of our own, we need to do whatever we can to help."
