Green Party to Endorse New Canaan Candidates

The candidate endorsements will be voted on at a meeting next week.

The Fairfield County chapter of the Green Party will meet Aug. 25 to endorse candidates for public office in area towns, including Stamford, New Canaan and Redding.

The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. at the home of Rolf Maurer, 54 Hope St., Unit I, in Stamford, according to an announcement from David Bedell, secretary of the Fairfield County Green Party chapter.

All registered Green voters in Fairfield County are eligible to vote at the meeting, while others are welcome to attend as observers.

The Green Party, whose platform is based on principles of environmental and economic sustainability, grassroots democracy, and nonviolence, has in the past elected candidates to municipal office in New Canaan, Redding, and Fairfield. It has also run candidates in Stamford, Weston, and elsewhere.
