Himes Kicks Off 17-Town Tour in 17 Days

The three-term incumbent representing Fairfield County began his tour Monday in Greenwich, with seven more towns scheduled this week.

U.S. Rep. Jim Himes (D-4) began a ‘17 Towns in 17 Days Tour’ in Greenwich on Monday afternoon.

Over the next 17 days, the three-term incumbent from Greenwich will visit every town in the Fourth District, to gather input from constituents and highlighting the strengths of each community. During this year’s tour, Himes will emphasize the importance of the government and the private sector in investing in America’s future to build a stronger economy, create good-paying jobs, and keep Fairfield County a leader in innovation and quality of life, according to a statement released by his office.

This week, Himes will visit Greenwich, Shelton, Bridgeport, Redding, Wilton, Darien, Easton, and Trumbull. The remaining events for 17 Towns in 17 Days will be released later this week.

GREENWICH: Tour of Blue Sky Studios
Himes will tour Blue Sky, a leading CGI animation film studio that has been based in Greenwich since 2009. Blue Sky participates in Connecticut’s Digital Animation Production Company tax credit program.

SHELTON: Visit to EAO Corporation
Himes will visit the new headquarters of EAO, a leading industrial switch and interface manufacturer. They employ over 600 people globally and their new space in Shelton more than doubles their engineering and production capacity.

BRIDGEPORT: Tour of Bridgeport Innovation Center
Himes will take a tour of the Innovation Center and meet with entrepreneurs and business owners working there. The BIC helps support and invest in start-ups and local small businesses, key drivers of job creation.

BRIDGEPORT: Visit to Beardsley Zoo
Himes will take a tour of the zoo and will learn about the energy efficiency upgrades that the Zoo has recently undergone and its participation in Bridgeport’s BGreen 2020 plan.

REDDING: Meeting with ReWire Students
Himes will be meeting with students from Joel Barlow High School, John Read Middle School and Redding Elementary School who participated in this summer’s ReWire Project. Run by Jane Philbrick, the Re-Wire project is a land-use planning program for the former Gilbert & Bennett wire mill.

WILTON: Lunch with Julianna Yee
Himes will meet with Julianna Yee to discuss her social networking website catering to the needs of teens, tweens, adults and business owners. Julianna is a Wilton High School student who created her own online start-up.
WHEN: Wednesday, August 20 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
WHERE: Village Luncheonette and Pizza, 8 Old Ridgefield Rd, Wilton

DARIEN: Person to Person
Himes will visit Person to Person, a local non-profit organization that administers emergency assistance, scholarships, youth camps, and other programs to communities in Southwest Connecticut.

EASTON: Easton Village Lunch
Himes will have lunch at Easton Village Store and will meet with local residents.

TRUMBULL: Insports Center Tour
Himes will take a tour of Insports facility to learn more about the energy efficient investments that have been made to the property.
