House Fire Breaks Out In New Canaan: FD

The fire originated in back of the home's two-car garage and extended into an attic area, according to New Canaan fire officials.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Crews quickly extinguished a fire that broke out at a New Canaan home late Monday night.

In a news release, fire officials said crews were called to a house fire on White Oak Shade Lane around 11:30 p.m.

The fire originated in back of the two-car garage and extended into the attic area above the garage, according to fire officials.

Three residents who were home at the time were alerted to the fire by a smoke detector and were able to self-evacuate without injury, officials said.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames and prevented it from extending into the home's living area, officials said. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Westport, Norwalk, Wilton and Vista fire departments all provided assistance, officials said.

"Remember to check to your smoke and [carbon monoxide] detectors to ensure they are operating correctly," fire officials said in a news release. "Early detection continues to save lives and limit property."
