Incident At Verizon Store Leads To Arrest: New Canaan Police
Police said the accused is being held in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
NEW CANAAN, CT — A 37-year-old New York man, Charlie Bonnet, of the Bronx, is being held in lieu of a $100,000 bond after an incident at the Verizon Wireless store, police said.
At 12:42 p.m. Tuesday, police received a report of an attempted larceny utilizing a fraudulent identification from the Verizon Wireless store at 136 Elm Street, police said.
"The Verizon store employee recognized the fraudulent transaction and pursued Bonnet on foot from the store to the area of Pine Street and Gove (S)treet, where Bonnet was detained, identified, and placed into custody by two New Canaan Police Officers working an Extra Duty job, in that area," police said in a news release. "The on-scene investigation resulted in the establishment of Probable Cause and Bonnet was taken into police custody."

He is charged with third-degree assault, conspiracy to commit fifth-degree larceny, second-degree forgery, and third-degree identity theft. Police said their investigation is ongoing.
